Qwen officially announced Qwen Image 3.0 on July 21, 2026. The third generation focuses on practical, information-dense images rather than only attractive pictures. Its launch theme is “Real,” expressed through richer content, more authentic details, and deeper knowledge.

This article separates facts in the official announcement and Model Studio documentation from details that still need approved access, a model card, or repeatable hands-on testing.

Confirmed capabilities

According to the official Qwen announcement, Qwen Image 3.0 supports instructions of up to approximately 4.5K tokens. This is intended for complex jobs such as newspapers, storyboards, exam papers, professional infographics, and nested interface designs.

The official examples highlight:

  • a complete 3×3 knowledge infographic produced in one pass;
  • complex formulas, diagrams, labels, and multiple content regions in one image;
  • fine text rendered at approximately 10px in the launch examples;
  • native rendering across 12 languages;
  • more than 100 artistic styles and a broad range of interface types;
  • detailed skin, hair, natural materials, and realistic paper textures;
  • image-editing examples including annotations, restoration, and research-style overlays.

These are launch claims and official demonstrations. They are not yet independent benchmarks from this website.

Official API status and what is not yet verified here

The announcement confirms the model release, but release status is not the same as a production API being available to every third-party application.

Alibaba Cloud Model Studio documentation now lists the official model ID qwen-image-3.0-pro and marks it as invite-only testing. The documentation describes text-to-image and image editing, up to six outputs per request, and resolutions up to 2048×2048.

Commercial API access is now available for the alibaba/qwen-image-3/text-to-image model. The verified integration supports documented request and output options. Downloadable weights, local license terms, hardware requirements, and a tested native ComfyUI 3.0 workflow remain separate questions, so we will not invent download links or local requirements.

Follow the dedicated Qwen Image 3.0 API status guide and Qwen Image 3.0 ComfyUI guide for clearly labeled updates.

What changes on this website

The site has moved to “officially released and live.” Qwen Image 3 is the default, while users can explicitly select Qwen Image 2 Standard or Pro. Every task records the model that actually generated it.

We will not present a Qwen Image 2.0 output as a Qwen Image 3.0 result. The model selector, task history, credit cost, and examples must continue to show the model actually used.

The production integration keeps provider credentials and model IDs on the server, accepts only supported image sizes and safe fixed options, charges 5 credits per request, monitors asynchronous tasks, restores credits after failed tasks, and copies successful images to durable object storage when configured. Qwen Image 2 remains explicitly labeled as a separate user-selectable model rather than being presented as 3.0.

How we will test Qwen Image 3.0

Ongoing tests cover portraits, product photography, posters, dense text, multilingual layouts, user interfaces, supported prompt lengths, content-safety failures, and all available aspect ratios.

We plan to publish the prompts, settings, output images, latency, failure rate, and cost. That will make the future Qwen Image 3.0 vs Qwen Image 2.0 comparison reproducible rather than promotional.

The Qwen Image 3.0 prompt guide uses practical patterns and labels which capabilities come directly from the official launch announcement.
